Sign Language Emojis (Concept)
Google Translate is the most globally used and accessible translation tool.
However, despite it being in 103 languages not everyone can use it.
However, despite it being in 103 languages not everyone can use it.
72 million people worldwide are deaf, and Google Translate can’t speak to them.
My project is to incorporate sign language into the existing infrastructure of Google Translate. The idea allows written English words to be translated into visual hand gesture icons, designed and animated in the world’s well-loved visual emoji style. This new feature would position Google as even bigger champion for inclusivity, bridging the missing gap in sign language translation and making it universally accessible and useful.

I created the entire project solo from the concept, emojis, to trailer video.
I consulted with leaders from the Deaf community, as well as ran a United Nations Foundation Youth Design sprint to incorporate international perspectives.
